get curious, be auroral

I always wish you could see what's going through people's minds when they look at paintings, or that the back of people's heads had a little window, I wonder what you would see.

initiations

'there is no such thing as art; there are only artists' said the art historian Gombrich. But what exactly does he mean by this? That art is pointless, that it lacks significance in today's touch and go, instantaneous world? I think what he means is that without creators, there is no creation and so without artists, there would be no artwork, no music and no novels. With this in mind, I pay tribute to these creators through this page, and how both they and their creations have informed my own creative curiosity as an artist, and my life.

aurora in art/film/music/literature each feature various compilations of each medium:

aurora IN ART- reviews of recent exhibitions I've been to, art I see around & thoughts on my favourite paintings and sculptures. the overused & overbearing 'art is everywhere' probably best defines this aurora section- my reviews are not limited to painting, sculpture and architecture, but album artwork, adverts & things that I find blissfully aesthetically pleasing.

aurora IN FILM- I tend to watch old films than those that are newer in the cinema, but there will be the occasional new film review- I could watch films all day, every day as they are such a love of mine- american beauty, the royal tenenbaums and the graduate are a few of my favourites; and a few lines will be written about those recently viewed.

aurora IN MUSIC- music has always had such a presence and significance with so many , and does very much with me as well. I will monthly update and add as I hear new songs that I like, and post them in my metamorphosing playlist.

aurora IN LITERATURE- books I think sadly tend to resonate less with people than a good song does, or an interesting painting or gripping film. perhaps it is because we are used to the instantaneity of the fast paced 21st century, but losing the love to think and for stories and characters to develop on the page. brief blurbs of why i love the books I'm reading, and recommendations infinitely.

I hope you enjoy my thoughts about the art that is everywhere, it's pretty spectacular if you stop to see it once in a while :)))
